Center for Plant Conservation, BBG as the oldest ex-situ conservation institution in Indonesia is obliged to respond to enthusiasm of many regions/ districts to build a new botanical garden in the respective region. Since 1999, BBG has been supported development of new botanical garden in new provinces started with Bukit Sari botanical garden in Jambi.

In addition, new interests to develop new botanical gardens in other provinces were received by the BBG. BBG prepared regional potency review for the development of botanical garden. The review comprised of vegetational and geodhetic potential of candidate of new botanical gardens, as well as cultural, socio-economical condition of the respective candidate. The review is needed as the fundamental to the development of new botanical garden master plan. The ongoing analysis showed that the accomplishment is high due to support from the local government.
