Liwa Botanic Garden is located in West Lampung district, Lampung province. The development received full support from municipality/ district government of Lampung province. The selection was based on:

1. 76.28% of the area is under protected area (TNBBS, protection forest, limited production forest, protected forest)
2. Only 23.28% is agricultural area
3. One of the BMG (Meteorological and Geophysic institute) for earthquake monitoring due to its position on Semangko section

The development accommodated several considerations :

1. Urban open space of 30 %
2. Public space quality improvement
3. Model for developing botanical town like Bogor
4. Ornamental plant theme is expected to encourage people welfare through plant diversification

Vision of Liwa Botanic Garden development :

1. Vegetation representation for Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (TNBBS)
2. Becoming a conservation district
3. Vegetation representation of provinces in Lampung
